Behind The Lens

Location

In my home studio, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, UK

Time

Late afternoon

Lighting

I used one constant 125w light directed at the model, being mindful not to illuminate the background in any way.

Equipment

Canon 50D and a Sigma 70-300mm lens.

Inspiration

I like images that portray segments of the body and wanted to create my own set of pictures. I think that when a section of the body is portioned off it creates more interest. There's no story behind the picture, it simply shows the definition of form and function. I like to think that I captured some unique shape, movement and shading.

Editing

I cropped the image slightly and made a few adjustments to the contrast and brightness.

In my camera bag

I tend to travel light as I enjoy street photography and don't like to be weighed down. I normally carry a Canon 40D or 50D, 35mm and 50mm prime lenses, a speedlight and Joby Gorilla pod tripod.

Feedback

Compose the part of the body you want to capture at a close range with minimal space around the model and use a harsh side light.
