Behind The Lens

Location
Photo was taken while on a photo tour in Banff
Time
This was taken midday. It was a cloudy day so we decided to go find waterfalls to shoot and when we got to one site I looked up river this is what so saw.
Lighting
It was a cloudy day so great for waterfalls and rivers. Too much light makes it hard to get the details and movement in the water due to whiteout .
Equipment
I just bought myself a canon 5D mark iii for a birthday present to myslf and a 17-35mm wise angle. Of rented the lens before and loved it so I'm thinking it is definitely a birthday present that keeps giving!
Inspiration
It was so majestic and perfect.the area is magical and everything seems perfect to shoot. Its figuring out which you like best that hard!
Editing
A little. All in Lightroom. I added more contrast to she's and depth in the highlights and shadows, then converted to black and white.
In my camera bag
I now carry 2 cameras. One with the 16-35 wide angle on a Canon 7d for landscape and a 150-500mm on the Canon 5dmark iii for wildlife and close ups. Lens wipes, flashligh, extra batteries and memory cards, beat spray and a tripod. I may add additional items like umbrella, rain gear etc. If I'm doing waterfalls or ocean.
Feedback
Move around. Get liw, get high. You can always erase an image but you'll never get that moment and light again. Use a tripod and delayed shutter for extra crispness. Review your shots so you can adjust settings as needed. Have fun and enjoy the moment. I believe your enjoyment can be seen through the lens so smile as you click away!
