Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken at Krug Park in Missouri. This is the "go to" park that I like to shoot. It seems that every time I go there to photograph there are other photographers wandering around guiding their clients, as well. It's a nice spot to go.

Time

It was around 3pm in early fall. Any later than that there would have been too much shade.

Lighting

I planned the shoot around the time of day to avoid major shade from the numerous trees on the huge hill on the west side of the park. Some of the park had some construction work going on, so we avoided those sections.

Equipment

I used my canon xsi, and my go to 18-55mm lens.

Inspiration

I wanted to capture some photographs of the grandbabies with my daughters so we wandered around the park, just having fun. I showed my grand-daughter how to "fly like superman" and then photographed her and captured this lucky shot of her being super silly.

Editing

I did minor post-production on this photograph by darkening the outer edge of the image.

In my camera bag

I carry my canon xsi, and my new canon 70d with my 18-55mm lens and 75-300mm zoom, my ttl flashes just in case and extra batteries. I had to get a new camera bag to carry all this stuff. Man, it can get heavy at times, but I would rather carry something that I might need rather than wish I had something and didn't bring it along.

Feedback

Play with the kids a little. Get them excited and show them that you are having fun, too. This was a good lesson for me by just photographing my grandbabies. I love it so much.
