I love California adventure. I have a similar photo of this in my gallery, but if you shoot it at a different angle you miss some of the light fixtures on the right that takes away from the beautiful wheel. Very pretty

Location
This photo was taken on vacation at Disney California Adventure. I loved seeing this view from the bridge and I thought the reflection would make a great photo.Time
This was taken about 8:45 in the evening. It was our second long day at Disneyland and California Adventure. We were tired and the kids (2 & 4 at the time) were getting really cranky. We stopped on the bridge to take in this lovely view and calm the children. I saw the reflection and decided to try and get a good shot. Really wishing I had my tripod I dialed in the ISO as best I could to avoid noise and braced myself against the bridge rail for a semi long exposure photograph. It really came out well and of all the photos we took on that vacation this one gets the most praise.Lighting
The first two shots I captured had more of the park to the left of the final image. It was nice with more of the roller coaster but in the end the light from the shops on Paradise Pier took away from the brilliance of Mickey's Fun Wheel.Equipment
This was my old Canon T1i with the included kit lens. No tripod though I sure wished I had oneInspiration
Just seeing the gorgeous view of Mickey and the reflection and the magic that comes with a Disneyland trip with kids. As a Kansas boy I'm always mystified by the natural beauty and lovely winter climate of Southern California. To have the whole family in a Disney state of mind really made it that much more appealing.Editing
I run all of my photos through Lightroom and put the same basic tweak on all photos. Then I tune individual photos that need it more from there. The basic tweak includes noise reduction which this one needed a bit but also some saturation which caused the lights to yellow a lot more than they actually were. By the time I was done I had essentially darkened the black a bit and toned down the yellows to closer match the unedited photo. In my camera bag
I just upgraded to a Canon 6D so my bag has slim pickings currently. I shoot Real Estate Photography in my day job so I have an ultra wide angle lens (Sigma 12-24) and the Canon 24-105 f/4L that I purchased with the camera. I do utilize DSLR controller with my Samsung Note tablet to get some nice time lapse and long exposure shots. Otherwise I have the mundane extra batteries, off brand flash and fantastic Peak Design strap.Feedback
This free hand shot has been better than some of my tripod shots because I upped the ISO and let the faster shutter speed save my wobbling from blurring the photo. Too many times I try for a longer than necessary shutter because I want the ISO at 400 or below for the lowest amount of noise. I'm learning (thanks to this photo) that it doesn't have to be that way.
