Behind The Lens

Location
This was taken on Dominion beach in Cape Breton, NS
Time
It was about 8:15 in the evening on June 18, 2015. Earlier in the year I found out that there was a family of foxes that were living on the beach so every couple of days I would go over to the beach in hopes that I was catch a glimpse of the this fox family. When I first started going there I would only see the parents but after a week or two which was the beginning of May the pups started coming out of the den. They were so small and fluffy. In this photo is one of the pups a few months after I found out about them.
Lighting
The sun was beginning to set since it was after 8 o'clock in the evening.
Equipment
The camera that I used was a Canon T5 with the kit lens of 75-300mm and was hand held.
Inspiration
I love taking wildlife photos and this was a great subject since there are so many people that walk on the beach and they were use to people being around. These foxes were very curious of who and what I was doing but they would only come so close.
Editing
I didn't have the right settings for the time of day so I had to brighten it and I pulled out some of the colors so that they would pop a little bit.
In my camera bag
I only have the kit lens 18-55mm and 75-300mm (for now) Hopefully soon I will get better ones. I also take extra batteries, some filters like ND and some macro ones along with an extension tube. Then there is my corded trigger and a wireless remote. And you always need lens cleaner.
Feedback
You need patience when it comes to photographing wildlife. I was there on the beach for about 2 hours and I got lots of good shots but that is only because they are use to people. I had a fox in my yard and he was more scared of me then the ones on the beach but the one in my yard was starting to get use to my presence until I took a photo too close to him and the sound scared him.
