Behind The Lens

Location
I was walking along Eagle beach in Aruba with my wife Marilyn. We were waiting for the sunset.
Time
The sun began to set while the wind and surf picked up.
Lighting
The twilight setting on my camera accentuates the yellow of the sky at sunset.
Equipment
I used a Samsung HW350. It is a small fixed lens zoom camera.
Inspiration
The waves were curling just as they reached shore and the curl would roll down the shoreline as far as the eye could follow.
Editing
Yes all in Lightroom. I dodged the white crest of the wave and accentuated the drops from the crashing waves in the same way. Along with my usual work flow of balancing tone and color and smoothness of the texture of the image.
In my camera bag
Now a LUMIX 1000. An extra battery and memory card. I also bring a monopod along.
Feedback
Start by looking for the light that is dramatic. Then determine what needs to be in the frame to heighten the drama and exclude anything that confuses the eye and draws your attention away from what is essential to the capture.
