Great lighting and detail. Awesome image. What camera settings and lens did you use? Was he near the shore or just balanced on the water?
the way you composed this image really makes it stand out. It is so vivid and real Nice job.

In response to those who asked, the lens I used was the Sigma 150-500mm APO OS HSM lens coupled with the Sigma 2.0X teleconverter - the camera body was a Canon Rebel T5i

Location
This photo was taken at Wildwing Lake in Kensington Metropark (South Lyon, Michigan), which is one of my favorite wildlife photography locations. This particular photo was taken in mid Fall while there was some ice forming on the lake which, is why the Goose appears to be standing on the water.Time
This photo was taken mid morning.Lighting
This photo was taken on a relatively clear morning in mid Fall so the light was quite bright, with few clouds in the sky to diffuse the light. The harsh lighting gave an interesting reflection off the surface of the water but since I used a smell aperture setting (f13) and fast shutter speed (1/1250 Sec) the light wasn't too harsh in the image.Equipment
For this image, I used my wildlife setup which consists of a Canon Rebel T5i fitted with a Sigma 150-500mm telephoto lens and Sigma 2.0X teleconverter mounted on a Vanguard Auctus T284 tripod with gimbal type head.Inspiration
My inspiration for this photo came from just being there, doing what I love to do most of all. Nature photography is my passion - I take every opportunity I can to get out there and capture the wilderness around me. I've always had an affinity with nature since I was a small boy growing up in Wales, UK... now, and for the last 17 years, I've lived in Michigan in the United States which gives a whole new world of flora and fauna to view, capture, and share with others.Editing
I use Adobe Lightroom for all my post processing work and it is strictly limited to cropping, correcting for exposure errors and just tweaking highlights and shadows. I try hard to limit post processing to keeping the image as close to what I saw with my eyes, and to make up for the limitations of the camera. In my camera bag
I carry everything in my bag... I now have the Canon 7D MkII instead of the Rebel T5i, but I still have (and carry) my Sigma 150-500 f5-6.3 APO OS HSM super telephoto lens, Sigma 2.0X teleconverter, Sigma 150mm f2.8 Macro lens, Sigma 17-55mm f2.8 wide angle zoom and Tamron 10-24mm f4-5.6 wide angle zoom lenses, a Rogue Safari flash extender, grey card, screen loupe, Vanguard Auctus T284 tripod with gimbal type head plus, being a disabled, diabetic photographer, I also carry water, dehydrated food and snacks, and, being a military veteran with old habits, I also carry various items of survival equipment should I find myself in a situation where I get lost or am stuck and may need to spend a night outdoors.Feedback
The only pieces of advice that I can give is that wildlife photography requires that you be in the right place, at the right time, with the right gear and that you need lots of patience.
