I wanted the photo to look somewhat nostalgic and also hopeful.Equipment
I used an iPhone 4s camera and I simply got lucky with the lighting being so good.Inspiration
I had to take if for a contest about imagination so I wanted it to seem bright, warm, and reminiscent of childhood.Editing
Primarily I upped the contrast to make the colors more vibrant as well as to make the lighting more dramatic. I also blurred the edges to make it seem more like a dream or fantasy.In my camera bag
Normally I just have my phone camera and I now cary a Canon Rebel.Feedback
Personally--as I do photography only as a hobby--I think I get my best pictures when I take them as candidly as possible and take as many shots as I can. Usually something magical will be captured. Typically something that's just lucky but because of the sheer number of photos I take, one of them turns out to have something special in it. In this case I luckily hit the timing with lighting perfectly.
