Behind The Lens

I took this photo in Orp-le-Grand, Belgian countryside at Brabant Walloon province. Photography is my hobby and willing to learn more, I try to keep one of my cameras with me all the time. I was having a walk with my dog and as always had my camera with me. There is this little paved road between two villages surrounded by fields and the road is gently winding between them going up and downwards as gently. I have taken many great photos around the same location.
This photo was taken early afternoon, Saturday 9th May this year. It was peaceful all around since the local people had gone home for lunch. I had good time to look around for nice settings of landscapes.
It was a cloudy day but some sun light came through the clouds and gave even more vivid colour to all different shades of green on the fields. Everything was so fresh and new and the air felt pure as well. I love natural light and even with the cloudy sky all the colours came out in a eye soothing way.
I had my new Nikon D3200 with me on a tripod since I wanted to test different settings and also learn to use the camera better. The whole weekend was dedicated for photography. Flash was not needed since there was enough natural light. I had the 18-55 mm lens on and it was in its maximum (f/8, 1/250 sec, max aperture 5).
The inspiration came from the delicious spring colours and the gently winding road. I just loved the rhythm of all different lines, curves, strokes and textures. The fields were newly ploughed and the brown complimented the greens in a most beautiful way. I did try different angles, even took photos from opposite site but they did not work the same way. This just simply made my day!
I prefer as natural result as possible. I love everyday little things and simplicity. So there is only a little bit of enhancement in vibrancy and highlights, slight add of sharpness and that's all. Also I do not feel too confident with Photoshop to make any major changes on photo. I am planning to start taking also the RAW versions of my photos to have more post-editing possibilities, but that is still a plan.
In my camera bag
Nowadays my little camera bag has the Nikon D3200 with two lenses, 18-55 mm and 55-200 mm. I also keep quite often with me a little pocket Nikon Coolpix, my Samsung Galaxy and iPhone. I have always extra batteries as well, several memory cards and cleaning equipment. I used to have a Nikon Coolpix P520 but unfortunately it started having focusing problems and its is now very rarely used.
Sometimes you don't need to go far and beyond but interesting and beautiful things, landscapes, animals, people and just passing life can be found just around the corner. Keep your eyes open and look sometimes back since e.g. light from different angles or opposite directions can make a major difference. It is also good to stop from time to time and look around, what is going on, especially when walking in the nature. Details can pop up much easily when you stop for awhile and let your eyes wonder in peace and quiet. Carpe diem!
