I believe it was mid-afternoon.Lighting
There was a very heavy, wet snow covering everything, so it was bright despite the absence of sun.Equipment
This was taken with a Nikon D5100 and an attempted snow shield...Inspiration
Icelandic horses are SO CUTE!!! This was actually a stop to see a waterfall (which was also amazing) but I was so excited to finally see some horses! They are actually proportioned like ponies and were bred in Iceland without exposure to many outside diseases, so once exported are not allowed back in. These guys were just asking to be photographed.Editing
I upped the contrast in Photoshop. In my camera bag
Short & long range lenses, rain/snow shields (you can see how well that worked - ha!), batteries, memory cards, the user's manual ('cause I definitely don't know everything!)Feedback
I honestly thought the snow on the lens would ruin this picture - and it did ruin many of the photos I took this day. If you're in a very snowy environment, I recommend investing in something better than the thin plastic wrap I had!
