Location
I took this photo in London on a week night in April.Time
Luckily the weather was good so I was able to catch the Big Ben at the beginning of the blue hour.Lighting
Fortunately the street lights were already on. I think the old street light gives a great addition to the scene. Also the reflections on the tower and tree coming from windows behind me bring some interesting colour to the picture. Besides that all light in the image is natural.Equipment
The photo was shot with a Sony Alpha 65 SLT and a Tamron 18-200 lens at f5.6, 1/60 and 18mm. I didn't have a tripod on me so just shot it out of hand.Inspiration
I have been to London for a business trip at that time and took my camera to free my mind and stroll around the city in the evening looking for good motives.Although the Big Ben is a very often captured sight of this city, I still like to go and visit this place whenever I am there.Editing
I processed the raw image in Lightroom. I mainly darkened the lights, brightened the depths and added a bit more saturation. Moreover I used a preset to straighten the falling lines caused by the lens and perspective. In my camera bag
Usually I don't carry a lot of equipment with me, the basics are my camera and the Tamron 18-200 lens that I use the most. Normally I also carry one more fast lens with f1.8 ofr 2.8 with me. Depending on what I plan to do I also often have a tripod and/or flash with me, sometimes also some filters.Feedback
I once got an advice from a fellow photographer saying one of the most important things in photography is to always carry my camera with me. I still believe it is true and try to have it with me whenever I can, doesn't matter if I planned to shot anything or not. Some of the best shots happen unplanned :)
