Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the historic Eastern State Penitentiary located in Philadelphia,Pennsylvania. It opened in 1829 and closed in 1971.

Time

This wad taken in the afternoon at about 2PM.

Lighting

No flash was used and had only the available light to deal with. One thing I love about shooting here is that the shadow play and light is constantly changing as the day goes on, giving you an abundance of different photo opportunities.

Equipment

I used my trusty Canon EOS 5D Mark lll along with my Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L lens. No tripod or flash used.

Inspiration

I wanted to capture the eerie mood that is present at this location and I thought this particular area would do the trick.

Editing

I used Topaz Clarity in the post processing and it worked out well.

At Eastern State Penitentiary there are endless photo opportunities so you will have no problem getting some eerie shots like this. Just make sure your battery is fully charged and you have a nice sized memory card. Also,you can bring a tripod in but you must pay a fee of $10, which is good for the entire year. Happy Shooting!
