Location

I arrived there around 7 am, that time of year (September 25th) is just before sunrise. I watched the egret's feeding in a recently flooded fuel for about an hour when disagreement broke out. The photo was snapped at 7:55 amLighting
I knew I wanted early morning flight on the white burds. I positioned myself for the best possible morning light once sunrise began.Equipment
Canon EOS 7D Mark Lens: Canon EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM aperture: ƒ/5.6 focal length: 400.0 mm shutter speed:1/1250 ISO:800 Shot hand heldInspiration
I love birdwatching and photography so I get to combine both my passions.Editing
In post I converted the image to black-and-white in Photoshop and boosted contrast to darken the background and masked the adjustment off the birds. black white made sense because the birds are white and the vibrancy if background was slightly distracting from the birds in the color version. In my camera bag
I always have my Canon EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM lens with me it's my favorite lens I have ever used, always have spare batteries and memory cards, and snacks are of vital importance.Feedback
Get there early and be very patient. I watch these birds for almost an hour before any action happened.
