I just used a polarizer filter to enhance the colours of the clouds. The sky wasn't totally covered by the clouds and the ligth in Iceland during summer is really beautiful: the sun doesn't go completetly vertical and the light is not as hard as in the south of Europe, even if it is at midday during a sunny day.Equipment
This photo was shot with a Canon EOS 1200D and the kit lens, a EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II and a circular polarizer filter from Hoya. The shot was made handheld.Inspiration
I loved the little church of Hvalsneskirkja as soon as I saw it. It was literally in the middle of nowhere and just for myself and my husband (the one in the photo) all the time we spent there. While preparing my holidays in Iceland I read a lot about how easy is to feel solitude while travelling through the country. The day I visited Hvalsneskirkja was my second day in Iceland and I totally perceived that kind of solitude while I was there alone with my husband and after hours without seeing anyone else on the road. I tried to capture that feeling in this photo.Editing
I made simple edition of the photo using Lightroom. Just a few changes on contast to enhance the sky.In my camera bag
When I travel I always have my camera, the kit lens, a telephoto lens, wide angle and a luminous prime lens (50mm f/1.8), a tripod and some filters (ND1024, ND8, ND4, ND2 and a polarizer), a remote shutter, 2 batteries, a few sd cards,...Feedback
I think it's difficult to give advice to capture a similar photo. When I planned this trip I used a lot of resources, so I ended up with a lot of places to visit that were off the beaten path. Hvalsneskirkja was one of those places and we had it just for ourselves. This gave me freedom to move and take a lot of different photos without having to deal with other tourists or photographers.
