Nice one! From the expression down to the bloodshot sclera, to the smoke wafting from the cigar! Brilliant!

Location
This photo was taken at my home studio in San Clemente, CA. I’m a self taught photographer. Most of my images are created from tinkering around.Time
Hmmm...If I remember correctly it was taken in the late afternoon as I had to wait for the sun to stop shining through the windows.Lighting
I wanted extreme contrast & mystery, so I waited for the sun to stop shining through my window. I used one light that barely illuminated the subjects face.Equipment
I used my Cannon 5D Mark III, wide angle lens and one light and a tripod.Inspiration
My inspiration came from the antique helmet I purchased on eBay and the emotional impact soldiers have on me...the bravery, the pain...etc.Editing
I shot this with a wide angle as I wanted the everything in the foreground to jump out at you. I then post processed it using Photoshop CS6...a lot of dodging and burning!!! I love contrast!!!In my camera bag
I always pack my Canon 70-200mm 1:2.8 & my Canon EF 50mm 1:1.2. I also love my wide angle and macro lens when I feel like capturing something a bit more unique.Feedback
Experimentation is the best advice I can give AND to believe in yourself!!!
