What a wonderful dreamy capture of this very pretty animal resting in a tree and watching for something. Congratulations on your award and keep capturing the moment.

OUTSTANDING. Wonder what he/she is thinking. Seems like they are in deep contemplation.

Location
I took this at the zoo in Memphis, Tennessee, during a spring visit (in April, I believe).Time
This photo was taken around 11:00 am.Lighting
The light was definitely harsh as the sun was almost directly overhead.Equipment
Nikon D7000 with Nikkor 70-300mm lens...no tripod as there were numerous areas that allowed me to brace myself easilyInspiration
I love watching animals and while my niece was off on her own I decided to spend time observing this ocelot. The pattern and contrast of it's hair was stunning and for a brief moment, as it leaned against this tree, the light was filtered through the leaves creating a breathtaking "portrait" opportunity. I had watched the ocelot for approximately 30 minutes before this one (and only) period of stillness occurred.Editing
I deepened the shadowed areas and increased the highlights slightly. Also I increased the saturation a touch. In my camera bag
Nikon D7000 and Nikon D7100 various lenses tripod beanbag cleaning cloth paper and pen for documenting location of and any thoughts at time of photoFeedback
With animals, I usually like to have the time to watch them for as long as possible, but I always have my equipment with me just in case.
