Location
This shot was taken in one of the prettiest coves in Laguna Beach. Treasure Island sits right below the amazing 4 star hotel , The Montage, which occupies land that was previously a mobile home park.Time
I dont have a to the minute time for this pic but i can tell you its midday and late in the summer. A beautiful moment along the prettiest section of coastline in southern california.Lighting
Full on late summer daylight is what makes this photo stand out. The sun was high in the sky directly overhead. Taking photos from land is a bit tricky under this type of lighting but it seems to benefit shots from the water.Equipment
This is a still shot taken with a GoPro 3 silver edition. That particular model does not have a rear lcd so it takes some time to figure out where to point and when to click.Inspiration
Just look at the photography of Clark Little. The man has produced the most amazing imagery from the shorebreak zone. Absolute genuis in my opinionEditing
This shot is unedited. A rare occurence for me.In my camera bag
I use a Canon t5 primarily. With a 35-300 telephoto. Water pics are with the previously mentioned GoPro.Feedback
I have taught myself and continue to learn about photography on a daily basis. The best advice I can give towards capturing a shot like this is to learn the capabilities of the camera inside and out. Read everything you can about your specific equipment then get out there and experiment. Trial and error will get you where you want to go as long as you stay consistent. Approach every session with a practice makes perfect mindset... thats what has worked for me.
