Location
I took this photo in front of our workshop in Enkhuizen, Holland. We have these old logs and pieces of trees laying around, left overs from our sculpting work.Time
It was in the late morning, around 11 pm.Lighting
The sun was standing low and was covered by thin clouds, I had to wait for the clouds to temper the light to avoid the heavy shadows which I didn't like to have in this photo... I didn't use additional lighting.Equipment
I used a Lumix DMC-TZ60 and shot by hand, a natural shot.Inspiration
The logs in front of our workshop are left overs from our sculpture work and we leave them laying outside because they look very decorative. As Nature allways takes over, many species of fungus and other life forms grow and live in, on and around these logs. I often take photos of this wonderful and beautiful form of decay, a theme I love very much.Editing
I did very little post processing as I prefer photos to be as natural as possible. In my camera bag
I don't have any equipment in my bag (yet) I am a beginning photographer and I am learning to use a camera, to look for the good light, composition and point of view. One day when I know how to use and set the camera well enough, I will start to think about a bag filled with technical things instead of the need to understand how it works first...Feedback
To capture an image like this is very simple, just look around you and be bewondered about this wonderful world we are living in. When I walk through a city or anywhere else, I allways look around me very carefully to see the details of which the world around me is build up. I try to look through a pinhole, without forgetting the whole picture. If you look at a subject to photograph, you have to try to realise what you want to achieve, Try to find the good light, the right point of view and the best composition... Once you get home and open your laptop, the magic of today's world begins... I allways crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them!
