As ironic as it always is, this photo unexpectedly fell into my lap at Burning Man. If I’ve learned one thing there, it’s the harder you look for photos, the more they seem to elude you; however, giving into the Universe (or the energy which emanates from the event), the more they seem to find you.

As I focused on taking pictures of the large and beautiful woman sculpture, R-Evolution, I almost tripped over this slow-moving costumed person. She managed, in the most succinct way possible, to emulate Burning Man’s theme - Carnival of Mirrors. Switching focus, the harder I tried to capture her in a well composed shot, the more I failed to see myself reflected in her mirrored surfaces, and at multiple angles, to boot! To me, it symbolized being so engaged in something that I failed to see everything else going on around me. Reach out and explore, her costume beckoned, but keep your eyes open - keep a focused balance through the looking glass that is life.
