Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at Florence (Firenze) Italy [Basilica Santa María del Fiore]. It was taken from Michelangelo Square. A place where you can see the entire City. I had traveled several kilometres from home, with my photography equipment, because I am from Argentina

Time

It was taken near 8pm aprox. I have learnt along the years that if I take my camera, I must take the tripod too, never mind where you travel and how many kilometers you have to do. This photo without tripod would have been imposible.

Lighting

I wanted the cathedral to appear in the darkness, but with the clouds behind it.

Equipment

I used my Pentak K30 with a Pentak lens. Tripod Manfrotto.

Inspiration

I remember this day, that I had to hurry up to arrive to this place. I wanted to see Florence from Michelangelo Square both with light and at night. I wanted to see the sunset from there. I was not lucky. I had taken the longer way (things that happens to tourists). When I arrived lot of people where taken photos, and I didn´t have space to install my tripod and camera. At the same time I was suffering because the clouds were forming a storm. I wanted the photograph with clouds more separated. Finally I had the chance to take this photo with some clouds. Some minutes later, this photo wouldn´t have been posible. The important role that nature plays at photography.

Editing

No edition on this photo. Probably little contrast but the photo was quite ready

In my camera bag

Camera, various lenses, tripod, flash, batteries, filters, and sometimes a Drone

Feedback

What I always answer to this question is patience and pleasure to contemplate different places. Accept the climate conditions and accomodate to them. You wont be able to change the climate, but yes the configuration of your camera.
