Location
This photo was taken from the 3 mile walking trail that circles Lake Bled in Slovenia. It features The Church of the Assumption which is located on Bled Island (which is only accessible by boat).Time
Time of day was around 2pmLighting
I walked around the lake at least 3 times sizing up the best angle to capture the church with the reflection. This view was taken from a slightly south west direction looking north eastEquipment
This was shot with a hand held Sony Nex F3K using a Sony 55-210mm lens with UV filterInspiration
Having seen many pictures of Lake Bled I was determined to capture it with as much of its beauty ( the Lake, Island, Church, Alps etc) as I could in a single shot. Hours of walking and an easy 100 or so shots and this was "the one"Editing
This picture was shot in JPEG - I tweaked the highlights and shadows just slightly to enhance the clouds and mountains in the background to make my focal point - the church and its reflection standout. But no extensive photo shop post processing or cropping - I try to leave my pictures in their "natural" state as much as possible. In my camera bag
Having become much more weight concious in my travels, I now only carry a Sony A6000 with Sony 18-135mm lens mounted, plus a Rokinon 12mm F2.0 or sometimes the Sony 55-210 instead ( for sports or wild life ). I will also swap out the Rokinon for a Sony 30mm for more urban subjects. 2 extra batteries and 2 data cards (32GB). Usually only 2 lenses with me at a time - one mounted, 1 in the bag. And I normally don't use anything but the UV / Haze filters that are on all my lenses ( circular polarizer on rare occassions ).Feedback
A lot of patience and a willingness to look at your potential shot from many angles and at several different times of the day in order to capture the image the way you envisioned it with your chosen focal point. Take lots of shots - I had several very good ones but the angle here and the light were just right.
