Great train photo -- love the way your photo took us from the engine to the last car. Bravo

Behind The Lens

Location

Thia was shot on the joint line in Littleton, CO. This is a composite and the original shot had a suburban background which I replaced with the foothills and sky.

Time

It was shot late in the day and modified during compositing to blend.

Lighting

Simply that it must blend and match to yield effective results.

Equipment

D800 and 35-70 Lens.

Inspiration

Always looking for compelling images - the railroad can yield terrific potential and powerful images.

Editing

This images is composed of a foreground - main subject - and background images. The tonalities of the train were modified for effect and others to match. Tons of decisions were made to accomplish the look and make it seamless.

In my camera bag

That depends on the goal of the day.

Feedback

Observe - analyze - deduce and pre-visualize. See the finished comp in your minds eye and shoot accordingly. Plan on small apertures and change FOV - and POV to ensure usable results. Shoot a lot of images from different angles and heights, again, to ensure usable results no matter what you come up with for a subject later. When in doubt - take a knee.
