Behind The Lens

Location
May 2013 I visited Iceland. You see Hraunfossar, a series of waterfalls formed by rivulets streaming over a distance of about 900 metres out of the Hallmundarhraun, a lava field which flowed from an eruption of one of the volcanoes lying under the glacier Langjökull.
Time
The picture was made around 07:00 PM after a day of travelling. It had been raining all day, but I really liked to visit Hraunfossar. Although it was still raining I managed to take this picture.
Lighting
The light was already very low, because of the rainy weather. This made it easier to work with longer exposure. With a small diaphragm (f/22) with an ISO of 50 I was able to work with 0,4 s exposure time. I had to underexpose a third to prevent overexposure.
Equipment
Nikon D800 with the Nikkor 14-24 mm lens (at 22 mm) on a Gitzo tripod.
Inspiration
I wanted to work with longer exposure so the water would be soft. Because of the many rivulets I choose a panoramic view.
Editing
The original picture is in 2:3, but I cropped it to 1:2. Also I intensified the colours a bit to make it look more sparkling.
In my camera bag
A Nikon D800, the 14-24 mm, 105 mm macro, 70-200 mm and the 2 x extender all by Nikkor. In special occasions or holidays I take the heavy 400 mm with me. Apart from that sometimes I use a Gitzo tripod or a Manfrotto mono pod, or a bean bag. For my 14-24 lens I've got the LEE SW 150 filter system with some ND-filters and the big stopper.
Feedback
Although the weather is not that good, just keep going on!
