The Butte Fire was a California wildfire that burned 70,868 acres in 2015. Starting in Amador County, it nearly doubled in size overnight, spreading, and in all directions, into Calaveras County. The Calaveras County Fairgrounds were made into a Base Camp for fire crews that had come from all over, displaced families, and because the fairgrounds had animal and livestock areas, it also became the temporary shelter for displaced pets.
This photo was taken on 9-15-15, at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds. The firehoses are those of the Los Angeles Fire Dept. LAFD were just one of the many fire depts. that made their way up to Gold Country, and who bravely helped save it.
While I reside now in Calaveras Co., Los Angeles is my hometown; I like to call this "Hometown Hoses."
