Location
This photo was taken at a Labor Day fair in a small town in northeast Arkansas. Every year during Labor Day weekend, the population grows from 1,800 to nearly 4,000.Time
Taken around 10:00pm as the fair begins to slow down for the night.Lighting
All lighting was from thousands of small light bulbs atop the ride. At an exposure time of nearly 2 seconds.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon d7000 with a nikkor 18-105mm 3.5 with VR kit lens on a tripod.Inspiration
I wanted to create an image that would draw you in and make you wonder just what exactly is going on in this image. I wanted to capture the movement to seem as though this was some sort of unidentified spacecraft. Aliens? I'll let the viewer decide.Editing
At the time, I had no programs to process images, so this is as it was shot.In my camera bag
When shooting at night, I always have my tripod. At the time, my 18-105 kit lens was my go-to lens for any occasion. Very versatile. Now I always carry my 35mm prime and my nifty fifty.Feedback
The only advice I can give is to always try. If you see something that you may think would make a great image, study the subject and find the image you are imaging in your head. If you don't try, you won't succeed.
