It was taken mid morningLighting
The sun was behind me, and I was only using ambient light. (No strobes)Equipment
I was shooting with my canon 70D. Lens was a fish eye 10-17 F3.5-4.5 TokinaInspiration
I wanted to capture the shark with open jaws to try to capture the power that this shark possessesEditing
The only post processing that was done was in Lightroom 5 to sharpen the eye, and to bring out the true grey of the shark. The water at Guadalupe Island is really that blue with over 100 feet plus of visibility. In my camera bag
While shooting underwater, I have my Ikelite housing, canon 70D, and most of the time I am shooting with my Fish Eye lens.Feedback
I learned that when photographing in really blue water it is hard for the camera to auto focus. So I went to my custom setting and used my auto focus lock. When I got into the cage, I got as high up in the cage as possible, shot the bottom of the cage which was around 8 feet down. This then allowed my to fire away at my subject without having to worry about the camera auto focusing. Just as long as my subject was within 8 feet. This worked out great since I was shooting with a fish eye lens.
