That morning, when I shot this photo, I was on my way from my hostel in Wanaka to the Matukituki Valley. When I drove next to the lake I noticed the calm water and the beautiful clouds in the sky - so I stopped at my little lone tree and took this photo!

Great shot of the most photographed tree in NZ. This would be one of the better shots I have seen of it. Well done.

I visited Wanaka a couple of weeks ago. I missed this spot! Superb shot.

Have you looked at this in B&W Sebastian, if so then surely an entry for Trees in B&W closes in 3 days. Amazing photo.

Location
I took this photo on the shoreline of Lake Wanaka on New Zealand's South Island next to the same-named village Wanaka.Time
It was in the morning, the sunrise was over but the weather was still calm and the clouds hung deep over the lake and the mountains in the background.Lighting
It's all natural light, in this case very diffuse light because the sun was still behind the clouds.Equipment
I used my Canon EOS 6D, the awesome 16-35mm f/4, a Sirui Traveller tripod, a LEE Big Stopper, 105mm polarization filter and a 0.9 soft GND.Inspiration
The calm water on this morning. I was on my way to the Mount Aspiring National Park and saw the stunning reflection on the lake while I was driving on the street 50m away. This it was luck that I noticed this scene!Editing
I shot RAW, so I enhanced the colors and contrast of the photo a little bit. Also the sky was a little bit dark so I brightened it up.In my camera bag
The things I mentioned before and also a small Fuji X100T, some more GNDs and NDs, a 85mm lens and a 14mm lens for the stars.Feedback
Think about the composition, what's your main subject in the frame. Also use the right gear at the right time - for me the use of the Big Stopper was essential for this photo.
