In the late afternoon sun.Lighting
This is purely natural Californian sun, no fancy flash setup, not even a reflector, just as it was. Keeping it simple sometimes shows surprising results, loved the shadows cast by the feathers and the light spilling through them.Equipment
Canon 1DX, two horsepower :), and nothing else, as mentioned before the natural lighting of the afternoon sun in California was perfect.Inspiration
I am a fashion photographer, it was for an fashion editorial with the stunning top model Kristina Sheiter.Editing
Working with top models and amazing stylists and HMUA's requires very little to be done in post, the image only required the tiniest amount of manipulation around the model, a few changes to her skin so it appeared flawless, changes to the horses coat so it too was flawless, and each colour has been colour corrected. This image was pretty much the way you see it here. The little post that was required, was done in both Lightroom and then Photoshop.In my camera bag
I carry about 10 kgs in a surf backpack, I travel a lot so I like the idea that a surf backpack doesn't look like it is holding a few thousand dollars of equipment. Inside you will find, a Canon 1DX, 24-70mm lens, 70-200mm lens, and a 2x extender. A few UV lens, lens cloths, lens cleaner, a ton of memory cards, portable hard drive, notebook (used for scribbling random thoughts and poetry/songs), pen, passport, and a tiny plastic dinosaur I found on the beach in Cornwall, England.Feedback
Just remember you don't need fancy equipment to make beautiful fashion images however, gorgeous haute couture from a top designer, expert stylist, talented HMUA's and extremely gorgeous top models are pretty important.... as well as a couple of Arabian horses. :)
