Loons are one of my favourite subjects to shoot, and the lake I was on had several nesting pairs.Editing
The photo is as taken. I try not to do any post-processing (other than cropping or contrast/brightness adjustments) I feel that a lot of post-processing can create a very stunning, visual photo, but is not a true depiction of what was taken.In my camera bag

Loons can be a skittish, very active, subject, but I have found that when kayaking, just sitting quietly still will draw them near once they determine you are not a threat. Sometimes it takes a long time, but eventually they get used to you, and over time seem to recognize the kayak and will come close.
