This photo was taken atop the third and tallest peak of Mount Seymour in Vancouver, Canada.Time
I took this photo around 8:30 pm on a beautiful day in August. The sunset gave layers to the coastal mountains and every five minutes there was a new opportunity for a great photo with the changing light.Lighting
To me there is nothing better than witnessing golden hour atop the highest peak I can climb. I love the soft red glow around my friend Matt as he did a jump kick to celebrate completing the climb.Equipment
This was shot on my Canon 6D with my 17-40mm lense.Inspiration
I always feel inspired when I'm on a mountain top! I say how incredible the glow of the sun was and how layered the mountains were and I wanted to create a shot that showed pure joy. A great end to any summer.Editing
I simply increased clarity and used a graduated filter to lower the exposure above the mountains to bring out more colour.In my camera bag
I always carry around my 17-40mm f4L as my main lens when shooting landscapes. I also carry my 50mm f/1.4 because I love a nice shot of a friend with a blurred mountain scene behind them. Lastly, because I'm stubborn I carry my 75-300. I just cant risk spotting some wildlife and not having a telephoto on me! I also like to create compression with far away mountains, making my subject appear closer to the the distant landscape.Feedback
