This photo is one of my favourites. One day I went to my son's house for a visit and to see their new kitten. When I got there the kids were happily playing with him chasing him around the house and he ended up on the black leather couch. I was talking to my grandchildren and didn't notice him climbing into my granddaughter's little purse, I looked up and OMG there he was! lightening fast I grabbed my phone - iPhone 6 - and started taking pictures!!! This photo is a really good example of being in the right place at the right time and just goes to show that you don't need to have expensive equipment to take a great picture.Time
this image was taken indoors in the late afternoon around 4pmLighting
The lighting in the room at the time was late afternoon daylight around 4pm shining through the windows. My son was sitting beside the kitten and blocked some of the light which caused the remaining light from the window to be focused on the kitten - I couldn't have done any better myself! Don't you just love it when everything comes together to capture a great image?Equipment
This photo was taken with my iPhone 6Inspiration
what inspired me was the absolute cuteness of this kitten in the handbag - really, who doesn't like kittens?Editing
I did my post-processing in Lightroom 6 with my all time favourite tool the adjustment brush. For me I feel like I have a paint brush in my hand that I can use to influence any area and detail of my photoI. After making the basic adjustments, contrast sharpening and noise removal I focused on his eyes and I used my adjustment brush to make them as sharp as I could. I also sharpend his whiskers and some of his fur. I then used the clone tool to remove toys from the background and voila! In my camera bag
I've never really been a gear person, I have a Canon T2i that takes awesome photos, with a kit lens 18 - 55, a zoom lens 70-300 and a fixed 1.2 lens. I also have a Sony a5000 which I am starting to really like. I have a tripod and monopod and of course my iPhone 6Feedback
I wish I had some profound advice to pass along but this photo really was all about just being in the right place at the right time. I think the key to getting good shots is to just be aware of where you are and be present. When I'm out I am always looking and assessing my surroundings to see wether or not a good image was waiting to be taken. I can't tell you how many fabulous shots I've missed because I was driving and couldn't pull over.!
