This is the way we usually see alligators as we're walking through the Everglades in search of that magical landscape shot. We always have chest waders on, which seem to give me some false, twisted sense of security. At least they're thick enough that the snakes couldn't bite through. I'm okay with this the gators as long as they hang out like this. It's when they disappear that I start to get nervous. All in for the sake of that one perfect shot!
