This is a repost of an earlier image. I'm trying to teach myself Photoshop and would appreciate any constructive criticism. For this picture I created 2 layers to correct the exposure for the sky and the foreground.

Well done Candice. Its a pleasing edit whiteout overdoing things. That sun flare to me adds interest. Compositionally I feel it would look even better if the main subjects were a bit off centre.

Thank you so much for such a thoughtful comment and constructive criticism! I truly appreciate it as this is my hobby and the only way I will learn to get better is from comments such as this. Much thanks!

It's just beautiful, Candice....the only thing I might do is to take your lasso tool in your tool panel (top left) and encircle that lens aberration in the center of your photo...then go into Edit, fill, make sure content aware is checked, and click okay. Usually that will fill in very nicely and leave NO evidence that it was there. Give it a try and see what you think. Otherwise it's just beautiful! :-)

PS...and while the rule of thirds, or off center is usually a good idea, I don't always follow it myself...it just depends on the photo (if I write the word "photo" instead of photo, Viewbug will change it to "phototure", which isn't even a word. A VB glitch...just so you know!! LOL) It depends entirely on what you're trying to capture and what you like! I actually like this centered...your eye is drawn right into it.

See? Case in point....VB just changed my second "photo" word from photo....I have no idea why. Just don't use the word "photo" and you'll be safe!

Great job for someone who's learning, I generally don't like photoshop photos because most people over edit. I don't have a problem with your 2/3 rule, you have it on your horizon, if the trees weren't there I would have applied it sideways.

I tried to use Photoshop to only bring the scene close to what I saw with my eye. The light had a way of making the grass seem to glow. That's the only way I can describe it.
