Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken from the fifth floor window of the Scottish Rite Building in St Louis MO

Time

I started taking photos around 9:00 PM until 10:00 PM

Lighting

Ambient light only

Equipment

Sony A700 body, Minolta 28-85 mm f/3.5-5.6, sunpak 7300 tripod, and a cable release

Inspiration

After a meeting I went looking for photo ops and looked out this window and saw a perfectly light church steeple and just had to capture the moment.

Editing

Yes, some color balance to redder the photo as close as I remembered it on that night. Minor cropping for better presentation. I use Lightroom for most of my post processing if any.

In my camera bag

Sony A700 and a A77 bodies, Tamron f2.8 17-50mm and a f2.8 28-75 mm zooms, Minolta f3.5-5.6 28-85 mm, f3.5-5.6 70-210 mm, and a nifty 50 mm f1.8, for strobes Sony F42, 2 Yonguo 560 III, a Yonguo 560 IV and a YN-560- TX trigger, a Cokin filter set, variable ND filter, polarizes, and a seismic 478-D lightmeter

Feedback

My advice is the same that was given to me, have camera with you and ready, look at the light not just at what you photographing. Remember with the right light any thing can be a great photo.
