The Hagia Sofia (meaning Holy Wisdom) is a former Christian Basilica, later transformed into an imperial mosque, and now used as a museum in Istanbul. Construction started in 537 and to 1453 was a Greek Orthodox church, expect between 1204 and 1261 when it was used as a Roman Catholic church.
