For the past 3 years my wife and I are working on a hummingbird-friendly garden. In addition to 6 feeders, we have planted numerous flowering plants to attract the birds. So far we have noted 10 of the 17 species of hummingbirds native to Trinidad and Tobago. The photo shows an adult male Tuby Topaz hummingbird about to feed from the flowers of our Red Firespike (Odontonema strictum)
