Location
I was driving along a road that runs beside Muskegon Lake in the Winter when I spotted this train moving my direction. Muskegon is located on the west coast of Michigan along Lake Michigan so we are apt to get a lot of "lake effect" snow during the winter months.Time
This was taken late morning during a raging snow storm.Lighting
Being late morning, the lighting should have been bright but because of the Lake Effect snow storm, it was a bit dimmer. However, the train had its headlights on which lit up the entire area and added a nice ambiance to the shot.Equipment
Nikon D7000 with an 18-200mm Nikkor Lens.Inspiration
Being at the right place at the right time is what always makes for a "lucky" shot. This was not a planned shot but the train was going slow enough that I was able to stop the vehicle and get situated so I could capture it coming around a bend in the tracks.Editing
The only post-processing was to lighten up the shot a little. In my camera bag
I normally carry a couple extra charged batteries, a few different lenses and filters and also have my tripod in the vehicle.Feedback
Patience and always be aware of what is going on around out and most important....never go anywhere without your camera!
