Behind The Lens

Location

The specifical was captured in a buildings which have been renowned for its greatness in the arts and crafts for the last 200 years. It a place that I journeyed along for 8 years being part of the companies historical team.Heal & Son is today known as the furniture store on Tottenham Court Road just oposite Goodge Street station. It product fills then homes of the upmarket elite and fills the minds of those passing by with the ambition to one day one an item or two of the store. The staircase it self was designed by William Heal I believe and is to me the central heart of beauty within this store. One can easily take a journey from the ground floor to the fith floor whilst being sucked in by the gorgeous curves and lines of the architectural maaterpiece. Today the staircase showcases an £11 000 chandelier by the American seaigners for lights Boci

Time

The image was taken just short after 10 am in the morning with the intention to take part in a Heals photography competition to be showcased on the rebranding of the new Heals logo.i wanted to ensure that when looking up from the base of this lighting masterpiece one gets the impression that as one accents from the bottom one is going on a spiritual journey to the enlightenment of heaven.

Lighting

As an architect I am a strong believer in the use of lightbwithin any building. Light is the essence of spiritual enlightenment and the purpose of existance. One can not embrace beauty without the presence of light even if in darkness.

Equipment

I have a standard Nikon D3200 and used a f1.4 focus lense

Inspiration

Inspiration comes with the intention to speak a message to take someone who is not there at that moment but are able to experience the beauty through imagination and through being consumed by the image. Image without meaning is meaning without existance

Editing

I used Lightroom only to enhance the warmth of the image and played alightly with the contrast

In my camera bag

Only my Nikon D3200 and Nikon D5000 cameras with the one zoom lense and a shortnf1.4 lense micro

Feedback

Do not try to hard, flow with your equipment and never be scared to try the Unknown. Be open minded to take images which you think will not be likes because at the end of the day there will always be someone who can relate to your experience. One main thing is tri play with manual mode in your camera a this will open the doors to interesting and great photography.
