Location
The photo was shot at probably the most famous spot in Madagascar, the so called 'Avenue des baobab'. It is located near the town of Morondava on the West coast of the island facing the Mozambique channel.Time
It was taken around 6:00pm just after sunset. Crowds gather there to watch the sun setting behind the baobabs' silhouettes, so I did and repeatedly shot the enchanting scene. I was almost leaving the place when I looked back to the sand road sided by the trees and a 4X4 van was there with lights on. This made even more evident the huge size of trees. And I shot again.Lighting
Lighting was quite dim so I had to enhance ISO to 400 and keep exposure at 1/50. Of course lens luminosity helped too.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D800 with a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. Nothing else.Inspiration
To be true I instinctively shot it without thinking because light was very rapidly lowering. But the pastel color of the sky was even nicer than at sunset and the yellow-brown color of trees and road contrasted so well with it. To me the car just in that positions with head lights on made the difference.Editing
Not much. I have used PS to sharpen. And a crop on the sides. In my camera bag
Usually I have the Nikon D800, with the triad of Nikon 14-24mm, 24-70mm, and 70-200mm, all f/2.8 lenses. This is the sad part of the story as my backpack is sooooo heavy...Feedback
If you happen to go there, and if you are in Madagascar, you definitely must go there, try some different lighting conditions, not limit to sunset. For example, if I had any chance I would have gone there at night, the milky way over it would be stunning...next time!
