Location
I took this photo in my home photo studio.Time
It was one evening at home.Lighting
I used a normal desk lamp that I happened to have switched on in my studio, focused directly on the subject.Equipment
My camera on this particular photo was a Nikon D3200. The lens was 18-55 ISO 800, exposure 1/15. No flash was used or tripod on this occasion.Inspiration
I am a big fan of chess and have several types of chess board. In my spare time I also enjoy painting fine art and for this reason I also have an artists dummy. Together with my sense of humour I thought it would be interesting to do something funny with the chess pieces and the artists dummy. I also have a collection of antique books. The outcome of my imagination was the dummy stroking the head of the chess horse. The name "good boy" came from the idea of the dummy congratulating the horse at the end of the battle of chess. This photo is one in a series of photos that I produced using the same pieces.Editing
Very little. I retouched just a little, some of the colour and sharpened the picture. I also blurred the edges to give it an authentic feel.In my camera bag
Actually, I normally have in my bag a Nikon D750 with a tamron lens 24-70 2.8 and a Nikon lens 35mm 1.8, I also have a tripod when I am out and about. And a bag full of creativity and imagination!Feedback
In order to capture a photo like this I believe you need to let your imagination and creativity run free and look beyond what is usually right in front of you and try and create a story. This is what I do when searching for a great shot.
