When most people think of Arizona they think of flat, sandy deserts. But in actuality a good portion of the state is covered in mountains and pine forests. This shot was taken near Bear Canyon Lake north of Payson, AZ on top of the Mogollon Rim. If you look closely you can see a young elk grazing in the far bottom right corner.
*Fun Fact* The forest stretching from Flagstaff along the Mogollom Rim to the White Mountains region is the largest ponderosa pine forest on the continent.
