Location
This photo was taken in Corrales, NM on a road which is really popular for family photographers in the fall. I was actually shooting a family portrait session and the light just floaded the road. I grabbed this shot real quick while they were trying to wrangle the dog.Time
I always shoot an hour before sunset and this was taken just as the sun dipped below the buildings to the right. So, probably about five o-clock.Lighting
I love shooting in natural light, especially for children, so I live according to the cycles of the sun. My favorite light is in fall.Equipment
My Nikon D7000 and a 50mm 1.4.Inspiration
My Mom grew up in the valley along the river just a little south of here and there was a long lane you drove down to get to my Grandparent' house. When they moved, the city came in and destroyed half of the lane to make way for a bridge. I was shooting family photos one day and the golden hour light came pouring into this road, which runs in the same direction as the lane at my Grandparent's did. I actually captured this photo as a gift for mother. I've since gone back and photographed it covered in snow and in the middle of spring.Editing
I edited out all the street signs and some road markers. I shoot in raw, so the photo needed some contrast and just a smidge of vibrancy (about +10).In my camera bag
My Nikon D7000 and a 50mm 1.4.Feedback
This was just a quick shot in the middle of a crazy shoot. Be aware of the light around you and the location. I think anyone can take this, it's pretty easy. It's just being in the moment that is hard.
