Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken under the bridge along the Atlanta Belt Line. The area is the former railway corridor located in Atlanta, Georgia

Time

It was a rainy Friday evening.

Lighting

We were using steel wool, under the bridge to create an effect of a rain

Equipment

Canon 7D with tripod and 18-55 mm lens

Inspiration

The inspiration for the photo came from an evening of fun with a group of amazing Atlanta photographers. The group spends several evenings out the month exploring the city of Atlanta in search of the beauty the city has to offer. This was my first experience talking pictures using steel wool lights. I always admired the beauty that the lighting produced so having the opportunity to use it was exciting for me. The purpose was to try and create a raining effect which was inspired by the rainy weather.

Editing

I used Lightroom and Photoshop to give the photo contrast and boost the lighting.

In my camera bag

My Canon 7D is my baby, my favorite lens is 50 mm f1.8 for now. I also use 18-55 mm

Feedback

There is plenty of videos on how to: steel wool photography and which materials you need. You defiantly need a tripod. I usually keep ISO low as 100 for any night photography and slow shutter speed. Experiment and play with your camera settings.
