We took the photo in a nature preserve in Land O Lakes, Florida.Time
We shot mid-afternoon so we could have some dark shadowy areas but still lots of natural light.Lighting
We used no additional light sources for this shoot; only shadows and sunlight.Equipment

We really enjoy the creepier side of fantasy and fairy tale imagery. We wanted to make her look like someone you weren't sure you could trust to lead you deeper into the woods.Editing

JD keeps prefers telephoto lenses with his Nikon body & Genevieve uses mainly prime lenses. For model photography we like to keep reflectors and a flash on hand. Working as a team has its advantages - two bags!Feedback
Run with your imagination and experiment with props, backdrops, and poses. Using a model that was excited by the project and doesn't mind getting dirty was a definite plus.
