Behind The Lens
Location
This scene is from the small southern Virginia town of Meherrin. It was taken in 2014 at Meherrin's 29th annual 4th of July celebration, an all day event of food, music and fun that culminates with a fireworks display. The celebration benefits the local volunteer fire department, and draws 5000+ spectators to the village with a population of about 50 (ish.) The photo was taken from a childhood friend's driveway, about a half mile from the celebration.Time

Dark lighting ;)Equipment
This scene was taken with a Canon T4i and Tamron 18-270mm Di II VC PZD AF, shot at 50mm. Exposure was at f/11, ISO100, and about 10 seconds. This was shot in Bulb mode, where I placed a piece of cardboard over the end of the lens, and opened the shutter. As I watched the fireworks trail upwards, I would anticipate the explosion and remove the cardboard, and as the firework faded, I would cover the lens again and wait for the next one. This was my first time experimenting with Bulb mode.Inspiration
I used to attend this when I was younger, but hadn't for years. It was nice to get back to it, and get some photos of the fireworks. Also, it was a great way to learn more about Bulb mode.Editing
Post-processing was done in Lightroom, bringing up the clarity and vibrancy mostly. In my camera bag
Normally in my bag I have a 70D, the Tamron 18-270mm, and the Canon 10-18mm. Obviously what's in the bag changes based on what I desire to photograph. I normally shoot landscape/nature, but it could be street, night or portrait, and it could be digital, or it could be film.Feedback
SHOOT! Shoot, and shoot, and shoot some more...make mistakes, and learn from them. Never stop shooting, and never stop learning.
