Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken from the 94th floor of the John Hancock Building in Chicago.

Time

I watched the sunset from the 360 Chicago observation area, and then stuck around to grab a few night shots of the city.

Lighting

360 Chicago does not allow tripods, so I had to make due using a small ledge along the windows near the floor.

Equipment

This was taken with a Nikon D7000, using the stock 18-105 lens.

Inspiration

I had taken a similar shot during the day, and loved the different feel it had at night. You can no longer see the beaches, the lake is now a black void.

Editing

I used Lightroom to adjust the lighting to remove the little bit of glare from the window.

In my camera bag

I recently got a Tokina 11-16mm lens and I love it. I love landscape and architecture photography, and this lens takes great photos.

Feedback

Check the weather before heading to the top of the Hancock Building. It would be terribly disappointing to have clouds or fog roll in and obscure the view!
