This reminds me of when I lived in Cyprus in the early 80's a lot of buildings in the north of the island were like this, ideal play havens for when I was a kid.

Nicely documented image. Here we have an arch, a very strong building essential used for thousands of years that has failed. I love the colors and textures of the stone work.

Location
I took this photo in Portugal near a farm. This particular building was a wonderful ruin and abandoned ages ago, it didn't even have traces of a roof anymore...Because it was an important building in an architectural sence, they where trying to preserve what was left in a beautiful manner!Time
It was about one o clock.Lighting
The sun was coming from the side, I was very lucky with the angle in wich the light fell on the wall. There where a lot of big trees around the ruin wich filtered the light wonderfully!Equipment
I used a Lumix DMC-TZ60, free out of hand. I didn't use my flash as I wanted to capture the bright light coming through the window.Inspiration
I am very fond of the theme "decay" it represents the amazing beauty of the circle of life... When I see a building like this, with it's wonderful worn structures and colors, I am reminded of the people who once worked, lived and loved here. Stories go through my mind and I try to capture that feeling in a few spontanious shots. Therefore I didn't edit the photo much, the natural beauty says it all...Editing
I did some post-processing, I cropped the photo and enhanced the contrast and color just a little bit.In my camera bag
I don't have a bag of equipment... My love for natural beauty and spontanious composition is enough for the moment. I always carry my Lumix DMC-TZ60 with me, wich practically fits in my back pocket and I never have to worry about the extra equipment as I am in the beginning of the learning process of photography.Feedback
If you look at a subject to photograph, you have to try to realise what you want to achieve, Try to find the good light, the right point of view and the best composition... Take the photo a bit wider so you can choose the best way to crop your photo to get the best result! And most of all, take more shots with slightly different settings so you can choose the best one, once you got home and opened your laptop, the magic of today's world begins...
