I took this photo at Beartown state forest in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.Time
This is one of my favorite images. I took this photo while I was hiking around the park at around 3 pm in mid October. The fall foliage was at its peak and showered beautiful colors across the park.Lighting
The sky was a bit cloudy which filtered excess light from the sun. So I was able to capture the rich colors. The cloudy sky only lasted for a few minutes and fortunately I was at the right spot at the right time. After 5 minutes the sun showed up again and the shots I took after that were too exposed.Equipment
Canon T2i, 55 to 250mm lens.Inspiration
The trail is a circular loop around the pond. The building was on the other side of the trail. The reflection of rich foliage in the still water was a treat to my eyes which inspired me to take the photo. In the photo the building looks like a house but in fact it is a rest area hiding mysteriously in the woods.Editing
Used auto color correction since I took the photo in raw mode. The jpeg image didn't require color correction. In my camera bag
Camera, 3 lens (18-55mm, 55-250mm, portrait lens), battery charger, UV filter, ND filter, remote, underwater point shoot camera, SD cards, camera manual, lens wipes, lens caps, data transfer cable. I carry the tripod separately.Feedback
New England has many unpopular/popular locations, state parks, creeks, old bridges, mountains, hiking trails, waterfalls, foliage and so on. The western Massachusetts is a great place to explore for beautiful landscapes. Berkshires are beautiful during fall and winter. Many photos turn out to be amazing when taken during sunrise or sunset because of the tender lighting during those times. Over exposure and post-processing can mostly be avoided during early and late hours in the day.
