Location
This photo was taken at the Eastern Lookout at the east end of the Grand Canyon. We were on our way out of the park to head home when we stopped here.Time
It was almost sunset. Given that it was October I think it was around 5:30 pm.Lighting
I did no post on this photo, just used the camera settings and lens. The sun was down below the horizonEquipment
I used an Olympus E-PL1, Shutter at 1/60, f-stop 5.6, focal length 150mm, ISO 250Inspiration
It was going to be one of my last photos of the day. The canyon had been filling with smoke all day due to a controlled burn on the North Rim. But the clouds were getting one last blast of color as the sun set. I decided this was my best opportunity. I shot a wide angle photo and this zoomed shot. So the true inspiration was the coloring of the sky over the Grand Canyon.Editing
I actually didn't have to do any pot work on this photo. I decided to keep it as is.In my camera bag
My bag now has a Canon T3i, a Canon 75-300mm, the standard 18-55mm lens and a 10-18mm wide angle lens. Cleaning supplies, spare batteries and my wireless remote.Feedback
Be prepared and be patient. You only get about 30 seconds of the best color and it usually happens during the last minutes of the day And scout your location to compose the shot so you will be ready,
