A lifesize representation in Chamonix of Michel Croz, a great 19th century climber and French Mountain Guide of note, who climbed the Matterhorn with Edward Whymper and died on the descent with three other climbers on 14th July 1865. Chamonix’s Michel Croz is buried in Zermatt cemetery.
